Willow and Birch Science Experience Day
Key Stage 2 participated in a Science workshop by Cambridge Science Centre, this was an exciting event that enabled children to ask questions and explore topics further.
Our first session was on sound, the children studied the ear and how sounds travels. They were shown demonstrations of this using every-day objects – which fascinated the children. Oliver said “it was amazing to learn how our hearing and ears affects our balance” and Dominik really enjoyed seeing the air bazooka which showed how sounds actually moves.
We were then immersed into learning about the function of food and why it is important to have a balanced diet. Ayden liked how the bead chains demonstrated how protein cells are broken down and go through your body. Fearne could recall all the five food groups!
It was great to see all of Key Stage 2 working together throughout the sessions. We took the learning back to the classroom to explore further.
